Jean Monnet Projects
Jean Monnet Projects support innovation, cross-fertilisation and the spread of European Union content. The Departments of Labour Law at the Universities of Amsterdam and Carlos III-Madrid have been granted this Jean Monnet project to boost the existing knowledge on European Labour Law within academia and legal practice and enhance the awareness on the development of the EU initiative on the building of an European pillar of social rights.

Summary
This action aims to organise educational/legal training activities and a platform of knowledge sharing (using the websites, blogs, and other internet tools of the participating institutions to spread updated information over the main developments in the field of EU Labour and Social Security Law. This platform will serve to assess and raise awareness over the evolution of the initiative to enhance an EU social pillar among academics and legal practitioners. The main aim of this project is to organise two international seminars/courses for promoting legal training and enhancing knowledge of legal practitioners on EU labour law and social policy developments. During the project events, it will be addressed how the “Social Pillar” process could contribute to update the EU social legislation, reinforce the effective applicability of employment protection legislation, guarantee adequate social protection, and fight against social exclusion.
