Maryam Malakotipour is the first joint PhD candidate at the Amsterdam Law School and the Faculty of Economics and Business. Maryam previously completed a Master's programme in Law and Finance, where she graduated in the top of her class.

Maryam Malakotipour earned an LLM in International and European Law at the University of Groningen before moving to Amsterdam to pursue a Master's degree in Law & Finance. She completed courses in both the legal field and the financial discipline; doing so enabled her (in her own words) to gain ‘better insight and a critical perspective on legal matters'.

Maryam recently began a doctoral track in Law & Finance and as a result is affiliated with both the Amsterdam Law School and the Faculty of Economics and Business. Under the supervision of Enrico Perotti (Finance) and Rolef de Weijs (Private Law), she will conduct research into the ex-ante effects of flexible insolvency rules on capital costs and financial stability.
